The painting canvases were pre-gessoed, I chose to apply a new layer of Gesso.
My next step is to use an impasto texture gel medium. Will be the first time using a medium to build up paint stokes. This painting will have a heavy paint stoke style. Impasto painting.

The edges were painted black. I hate the process so I like to get that step out of the way. I have to retouch them in the end but it is nice to get them painted right away.

Impasto is a technique used in painting, where paint is laid on an area of the surface thickly, usually thick enough that the brush or painting-knife strokes are visible. Paint can also be mixed right on the canvas. When dry, impasto provides texture; the paint appears to be coming out of the canvas.

My next step is to overlap paint in crisscross patterns. Like paint intersections. Color means nothing at this point. I started using purple because in the end I want the base background to be purple. However I do not have that much purple so I may switch to paint colors I need to use up regardless of the color. The phase is all about building up different layers of paint texture. each layer will get more dramatic in terms on thickness.
